Article 1

These regulations are formulated in accordance with the "General Academic Regulations of National Taiwan University of Science and Technology" (hereinafter referred to as "the University") to provide a basis for the graduate studies of students in the Graduate Institute of Patent, College of Applied Sciences (hereinafter referred to as "the Institute").

Article 2

Applicants who hold a bachelor's degree (or are graduating in the current academic year) from a domestic public or registered private university or independent college, or from a foreign university recognized by the Ministry of Education, or who possess an equivalent academic qualification, and who have passed the University's Master's Program Entrance Examination or Recommendation-Admission process, may be admitted to pursue a master's degree in the Institute.

Article 3

The duration of study for students in the Master's Program is limited to 1 to 4 years. Students must complete the required minimum credits for graduation and finish their degree thesis within the prescribed study period.

Article 4

The minimum credit requirement for graduation is 36 credits, of which students must complete at least 30 credits from courses offered by the Institute. Among these, students must complete at least 9 credits in each of the three course groups: Technology, Management, and Law. Courses from the In-Service Executive Master's Program, summer prerequisite courses, and internship courses do not count toward graduation credits. Courses taken outside the University's graduate programs must be approved by the Department Meeting to be counted toward graduation credits.

Article 5

Credit waivers and transfers shall be handled in accordance with the "National Taiwan University of Science and Technology Regulations for Credit Waiver and Transfer". The maximum approved waived credits shall not exceed one-half (inclusive) of the required graduation credits; however, credits earned at this University are not subject to this limitation. Courses submitted for waiver must have been completed within 5 years prior to enrollment with a grade of 80 points (inclusive) or above, must be courses offered by the Institute, and must pass review by the Department Meeting.

Article 6

Students must confirm their thesis advisor and submit the "Thesis Advisor Consent Form" within one semester after enrollment. To change advisors, students must submit the "Application for Changing Thesis Advisor". If a student applies to have an adjunct teacher or a faculty member from another department serve as an advisor, they must be co-advised by a full-time or project faculty member of the Institute, subject to approval by the Department Meeting.

Article 7

The topic of the master's thesis must align with the professional domain of the Institute. Students must confirm their thesis topic with their advisor and submit it to the Institute for record before the start of their 3rd semester of study. Any subsequent change to the thesis topic must be submitted to the Institute for record no later than the end of the semester prior to the degree defense.

Article 8

Students must complete a course in Academic Research Ethics before the end of their first academic year. Additionally, students must complete the required English credits prior to applying for the degree defense (detailed implementation rules are provided in Annex 1). Students may only apply for the degree examination after fulfilling both requirements.

Article 9

Applications for the oral thesis defense must be approved by the thesis advisor and handled in accordance with University regulations. The Oral Defense Committee shall consist of 3 to 5 qualified internal and external members. A passing grade for the thesis defense is an average score of 70 points (inclusive) or above. Upon passing the defense, the Institute will recommend the student to the University for the award of a master's degree.

Article 10

Any matters not covered in these regulations shall be handled in accordance with the University's Academic Regulations. These regulations shall take effect after approval by the Department Meeting, and the same shall apply to any amendments.

Annex 1: The Enforcement Rules of the Compulsory English Courses for Graduate Students

1. These regulations are based on the resolution of the 154th Academic Affairs Council, item 4, paragraph 2.
2. All doctoral and master's degree students (excluding foreign students and in-service students) who admit since the academic year 99 should meet these requirements in order to graduate.
3. The following are the requirements for graduate students (excluding foreign students and in-service students) to take English courses and the related regulations for the waiver:
   1. 4 credits of English courses from the University's common required English courses or English courses offered by an English-related department. (English credits are not included in the graduation credits.)
   2. 4 credits of common required English courses are taken within two years.
   3. Students who should have passed the GEPT intermediate secondary examination or other English tests of the same level in order to apply for the application for the waiver (see attached). Relevant documents must be within the validity period at the time of application.
   4. Students who have received the certificate of completion from our "English Summer Intensive Course".
   5. A bachelor's degree (or higher) from a university of English-speaking country.
4. The application should be submitted to the office before graduation by filling out the verification application form (as attached) and attaching the relevant certification within the validity period.
5. These regulations shall be adopted at the affair assembly and so does the amendment.
6. If there are any matters not covered in these terms, they will be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations of the University.
